Wireless Mighty Mouse

Apple have now released a wireless version of their popular (and feature-packed) Mighty Mouse available for £49. Powered by Bluetooth, and powered by a pair of AA batteries, the new Mighty Mouse will connect with any Bluetooth-enabled Mac.

With a laser tracking system that ensures precision navigation on a range of surfaces, and accroding to the promotional material you don't even need a mouse mat any more.

The of the main selling points of the Mighty Mouse in it's "Wired" version was the range of options that could be applied to the different buttons on the body of the mouse. All of these options have been retained on the wireless version.

Scroll Ball & Button

Positioned on the top of the Mighty Mouse, the Scroll Ball gives the user a full 360-degree scrolling capability. This scrolling comes into its own when:

-Scrolling down long pages
-Moving around large images
-Navigate big spreadsheets

Additionally, the Scroll Ball can be clicked to access multiple Mac OS X features like Dashboard, Expose or Spotlight

Touch Sensitive Shell

Previous incarnations of the Mac Mouse (both Wired and Wireless) have beencharacterizedd by the single mouse button. In general, the lack of an easy ability to 'right-click' had been a bit of an issue for some, especially PC-Swtichers who feel a touch lost without it. While this Wireless Mighty Mouse appears to have a single top shell, touch-sensitive technology detects which side of the mouse has been clicked. For more traditional Mac users, the preferences can be set up to override this and treat the Mighty Mouse as a one-button mouse.

It has been noted by some early users, that in order to right-click you must ensure that your first finger is not in contact with left side of the Mighty Mouse. Failure to do so means that the Mighty Mouse assumes you are performing a left click.

Force-Sensing Wide Buttons

In addition to the Scroll Ball and the Touch Sensitive Top Shell, there is another control mechanism built into the sides of the Wireless Mighty Mouse. Here touch sensitive buttons located on either side of the Mighty Mouse allow you to access Mac OS X features like Expose, Dashboard or a range of othercustomizablee features

Looks/Design

As we have come to expect from every product that comes out of Apple's in house design team, the Wireless Mighty Mouse looks great. Here, the stylish, clean lines of the existing wireless Bluetooth Apple mouse have been retained with the addition of enhanced clicking options. The combination should satisfy any Mac user looking for a new mouse.
